Dear Readtopia Parents and Friends,
Thank you for your continued trust and support of Readtopia. We would like to take this opportunity to share with you our growth and progress throughout 2025.
In 2025, we continued to uphold our core educational philosophy: using language as a medium to cultivate children’s interest in language and culture, strengthen their communication and social skills, and develop habits of exploration, reading, and critical thinking. We believe these abilities form a vital foundation for children’s future learning—whether in Chinese or in other academic areas.
This process is much like nurturing a plant: when provided with healthy soil and ample sunlight, it will, over time, grow into a better version of itself—green leaves become greener, and flowers bloom more vividly. In the same way, our teachers create open, inquiry-based classroom environments and thoughtfully designed exploratory learning spaces to awaken and nurture children’s natural curiosity and desire to learn.
Guided by this philosophy, we apply a diverse and systematic set of teaching approaches in our daily instruction. From beginner to advanced levels, we use Chinese learning as a vehicle to help students gradually acquire essential skills in thinking, writing, and expression.
For example, we place language learning within engaging storylines and meaningful contexts. Through enjoyable experiences, children come to understand the deeper meaning of language and learn how to use it in real-world situations—avoiding rote memorization or learning that is quickly forgotten.
In communication and writing instruction, we also use a variety of visual and concrete tools to help students tell a complete, clear, and engaging story. Over time, children learn how to develop a single event or idea into a compelling story. This ability is not formed overnight; rather, it is cultivated through long-term practice using age-appropriate methods and materials at different developmental stages. Gradually, children build the habit of turning experiences and ideas into interesting narratives.
We believe that these expressive and thinking skills have far greater lifelong value than simply mastering isolated language knowledge points. While specific language elements are not treated as the final goal, our approach allows children to naturally integrate learning and application, resulting in strong language outcomes alongside genuine skill development.
Likewise, children’s confidence, empathy, and social skills are intentionally nurtured through picture books, guided discussion, and classroom reflection.
Key Updates in 2025
First, Readtopia moved into a new classroom space. Designed with students at the center, the classroom has been transformed into an immersive environment for Chinese learning and reading exploration. We incorporate seasonal and cultural themes by decorating for major holidays and curating related picture books. Our goal is to create a learning space that is warm, engaging, exploratory, and joyful for both children and parents.
Feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive. Children love the classroom and library, eagerly browsing books and showing curiosity toward cultural displays. In the new space, we also hosted multiple culture-themed summer camps centered around picture book reading, receiving feedback that exceeded our expectations. Children became fully immersed—often wondering how the day passed so quickly—while parents observed clear growth in engagement and learning.
Second, we launched our online learning platform: Readtopia Online Learning Playground. Designed in alignment with Readtopia’s educational philosophy, the platform serves as a natural extension of our in-person classes. At this stage, our focus is on strengthening learning continuity—reinforcing vocabulary and expressions through repeated online practice, while continuing to develop children’s language organization and storytelling abilities.
With the support of digital tools, we emphasize personalization and playfulness, allowing children to engage with online learning in a healthy, age-appropriate way. The platform also provides opportunities for interaction within the learning community and introduces children to early experiences with AI-supported learning.
We recognize that online learning is a journey we have begun, and we have much more to explore ahead. The rapid development of artificial intelligence is reshaping education in two significant ways.
First, it shifts the core educational goal from knowledge memorization to ability development—a shift that strongly aligns with Readtopia’s long-standing philosophy.
Second, it empowers educational tools. Traditional classrooms often face the “impossible triangle” of efficiency, personalization, and cost. Through thoughtful integration of AI in both online and offline settings, we see new possibilities for achieving high-quality, personalized learning experiences while reducing constraints. This remains an important direction for Readtopia’s ongoing growth and improvement.
In 2015, Readtopia partnered with a Montessori private school to offer a Chinese language program. Each semester featured a series of themed, inquiry-based Chinese learning activities centered on story reading and picture-book literacy. The program emphasized engagement and hands-on exploration, sparking students’ interest in the Chinese language and culture. It was warmly embraced by students and highly appreciated by parents.
From our very first three students to more than thirty today—approximately 90% of whom joined through parent referrals—the trust and recognition we have received mean a great deal to us.
We sincerely thank every family for your continued support, and we warmly invite you to introduce Readtopia to more friends and relatives, and organizations . Together, let us build a joyful, warm, and forward-looking Chinese language and culture community for the next generation.
